May 5, 2010 -- The Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers tonight to go up 3-0 in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Bruins players Blake Wheeler, Miroslav Satan, Mark Recchi, and Patrice Bergeron scored goals for the Bruins who are now one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
Facing a 2-0 hole, the Philadelphia Flyers took their first lead of the series as Aaron Asham flicked the puck past Tuukka Rask's glove just two-and-a-half minutes into the game. Unfortunately for Flyers fans, the good vibes did not last long.
Wheeler deflected the puck off his stick past a startled Brian Boucher to make it 1-1. Satan followed with a forehand-to-backhand goal that dropped the Flyers into a deep hole. Recchi added an early third-period rebound and Bergeron slid in the empty netter to put the Flyers on the brink of elimination.
Philadelphia has never won a series when trailing 3-0 (0-6). Only two NHL teams have recovered from such a deficit and advanced.
Rask had 34 saves on the night, while his counterpart Brian Boucher stopped just 16 of 19 shots thrown at him. Boucher was replaced late in the third by backup goaltender Johan Backlund.
