Krejci Out with Season-Ending Injury

May 6, 2010 -- One day after taking a 3-0 series lead against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Boston Bruins were dealt bad news as x-rays confirmed that Bruins forward David Krejci will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a broken wrist.

In Game 3 of the NHL Eastern Conference Semifinals between the B's and Flyers , Mike Richards of Philadelphia caught Krejci with his head down and made him pay the price.

Richards nailed Krejci at the blue line, causing the Boston forward to skate off the ice. Richards' hit knocked Krejci out of the game -- and the rest of the postseason -- with a broken wrist. Unfortunately for the Flyers, the hit led to a Boston fast break, ending with a goal by Miroslav Satan, giving the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Boston went on to win the game 4-1.

In the short term the play may have worked out, but the B's will certainly be handicapped by the loss of one of their top scorers. Krejci was having a great playoffs, picking up four goals and eight points in nine postseason games.
