May 8, 2010 -- Simon Gagne made a timely return to the lineup, scoring in overtime to help the Philadelphia Flyers hold off elimination by beating the Boston Bruins 5-4 on Friday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Gagne played for the first time since he broke his right toe in Game 4 of Philadelphia's opening-round series against New Jersey.
Boston, trying to become the first team this season to advance to the NHL's Final Four, tied it late in regulation.
With Rask pulled for an extra skater, 42-year-old Mark Recchi scored after a perfect pass from Patrice Bergeron.
Mike Richards won the faceoff, but Bergeron beat Kimmo Timonen to the puck and fed Dennis Wideman at the point. Wideman then found Bergeron, who was on the left side as he sent a crisp cross-ice feed to Recchi. It was Recchi's second goal of the night.
About five minutes earlier, Ville Leino tipped Chris Pronger's point drive over the glove of Rask with 5:40 left to snap a 3-3 tie.
Chris Pronger, Danny Briere, Claude Giroux and Ville Leino all scored for the Flyers.
Michael Ryder and Milan Lucic had Boston's other goals.
