May 27, 2010 -- After the NBA rescinded one of his two technical fouls from Game 5, Kendrick Perkins will be in uniform but on thin ice for Friday night's Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. His next technical will be his seventh of the playoffs, and will trigger an automatic suspension.
The league reviewed the calls on Perkins made by referee Eddie F. Rush and ruled the second technical, for objecting to a foul call in the final minute of the first half, should be wiped out.
Perkins and Orlando center Marcin Gortat received double technicals earlier in the half.
“Obviously, I’m happy about it,’’ said Celtics coach Doc Rivers during a conference call late Thursday afternoon. “I’m a little bit disappointed that both technicals were not rescinded. I thought that both should have been, and I’m very surprised that they’re not, but I’ll take the one and hopefully we can keep working on the other one.
“Unfortunately, we can’t get those calls back. It clearly hurt us in Game 5 not having Perk on the floor.’’
Perkins was ejected when he was whistled for the second technical, leaving the Celtics vulnerable as they tried to defend Dwight Howard.
