February 26, 2010 -- The New England Patriots received word today that Wes Welker, the NFL's best slot receiver, is progressing well three weeks after having surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Welker's injury occurred in a meaningless season finale versus the Houston Texans.
Patriots beat writer Shalise Manza Young believes Welker will likely be out until "at least Thanksgiving" next season.
If Welker starts the season on the PUP list, he won't eligible to return until late October. The Pats would then have three more weeks to activate him. It's in that Halloween-to-Thanskgiving window that Welker will likely return to game action.
