May 22, 2009 -- Amado Guevara scored twice and Dwayne DeRosario added a goal as Toronto FC beat New England 3-1 on Saturday and stretched the Revolution's winless streak to six games.
Entering the match, New England was sitting in the middle of the Eastern Conference table, right below Toronto FC. The reds' win pushes the Canadian club to the top of the table and leaves the Revolution squandering near the bottom.
Toronto entered the game after breaking a six game unbeaten streak during a 2-0 loss to former Eastern Conference leaders Chicago Fire last Saturday.
The Revolution had scored an MLS-low seven goals entering the game, but they took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when Joseph met Chris Tierney's cross and sent a glancing header into the far corner. It was Joseph's team-leading third goal and New England's second first-half score of the season.
But Guevara evened it up with a hard shot from the edge of the area in the first half, then looped a free kick into the far corner in the second half, giving him a team-high five goals.
DeRosario scored on a second-half breakaway for Toronto (4-3-4), which has lost once in six games. Shalrie Joseph scored for New England (2-3-4), which has not won since beating FC Dallas at home on April 4.
Joseph and Steve Ralston started up front for the second straight game, part of coach Steve Nicol's plan to boost New England's stagnant offense.
Reis returned to New England's lineup after missing last week's game against Colorado because of a concussion.
